Abuse

"Did you spend time in an Irish orphanage or industrial school as a child?"

If so, you may be one of thousands of people who are now entitled to counselling, compensation and education grants as part of a scheme set up by the Irish Government. The scheme makes awards to people who were resident in industrial schools and orphanages in Ireland. If you think you may qualify, please call (00353) 1 6795500 in strict confidence for further information. Alternatively email caitriona.cannon@petermcdonnell.ie or aisling.mcdonnell@petermcdonnell.ie

The Residential Institutions Redress Board is a government-funded authority established in December 2002 to consider applications for compensation on behalf of children who suffered abuse while in a State Institution in Ireland.

Children who suffered abuse as a resident in a State Institution are now entitled to significant damages for pain and suffering and loss of opportunity.

Abuse includes: lack of education, child labour, undernourishment, physical abuse, psychological abuse and sexual abuse.

We represent survivors of abuse worldwide. We have a department dedicated to pursuing claims arising from abuse that occurred in State Institutions.

The application process is sensitive to the particular needs of clients who suffered childhood trauma through abuse and neglect. Compensation is claimed without going through the courts and all cases are dealt with in the strictest confidence. In addition to securing maximum compensation for our clients, we ensure they have access to professional help and support.

The cut off date for applications is 5th December 2005; therefore it is imperative proceedings begin as soon as possible, otherwise we may be prevented from processing your claim.
